Subject: Construction of Contracts and Lucky Lawyers

Colleagues,

In Sutton Housing Partnership Ltd v Rydon Maintenance Ltd [2017] EWCA Civ 359 at [46](18 May 2017), Jackson LJ said:

'Lawyers are now lucky enough to live in a world overflowing with appellate guidance on how to construe contracts.'

Donald Horne once family described and wrote about Australia as the 'lucky country'. I doubt Jackson LJ was was using the word 'lucky' as did Horne.
